The story of Bogue Primary and Infant School begins in 1950 with the vision and dedication of founder Vidina Faulkner. Recognizing the need for quality education in the rural district of Bogue in Braes River, St. Elizabeth, Faulkner established what would become one of the community's most cherished institutions. Her commitment to providing accessible, comprehensive education laid the foundation for more than seven decades of academic excellence and community service.
From its earliest days, Bogue Primary and Infant School distinguished itself as more than just a place of learning – it became a holistic institution dedicated to developing the complete child. The school's founders understood that true education extends beyond textbooks and classrooms, embracing extracurricular activities that would shape well-rounded individuals. This philosophy took root and flourished, becoming an integral part of the school's identity.
Over the decades, the school has built an impressive legacy of community engagement and student achievement. Our participation in prestigious programs and competitions such as JCDC, DA Sports, and various football competitions has brought recognition not only to our students but to the entire Bogue district. The establishment of clubs like 4H, Cub Scouts, and Math Club has provided generations of students with opportunities to explore their interests and develop leadership skills beyond the traditional curriculum.
Today, under the leadership of Principal Alicia Ashley-Barrett and Board Chair Junior Coley, Bogue Primary and Infant School continues to honor its founder's vision while embracing modern educational approaches. The implementation of our School-Wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS) framework demonstrates our commitment to creating a positive learning environment where every student can thrive. Our active past student association serves as a testament to the lasting bonds and pride that our education instills.
As we move forward, we remain dedicated to our current mission of improving literacy and numeracy levels while maintaining the holistic approach that has defined us for over 70 years. Every student who graduates carries with them not just knowledge, but the values of respect, integrity, citizenship, and honesty that will guide them throughout their lives. At Bogue Primary and Infant School, we don't just educate students – we transform lives and build futures.
